Letter from Istanbul in solidarity with Paris attacks

November 14, 2015 by carol in News From The Front, Uncategorized

Dear Carol,

We are deeply sorry and concerned about the evil bloodshed in Paris last night. And we hope you and your loved ones and friends are safe.
We are following with concern the tendency of these barbaric attacks aimed at instilling “shock and awe” to spread throughout the world.
This is how they spread their foothold in Syria and Iraq, acquiring obedience and following by means of their threats and the atmosphere of horror they create; forcing people into submission without any major resistance.
The only force that stood up to them with determination and succeeded in defeating them was YPJ/YPG/PKK and the people of Rojava.
This policy of overbearing and reigning through fear/blackmail of IS has striking similarities to the policy AKP followed in the period running up to the 1 November elections. Democratic Syria Forces and PKK liberate Shingal and IS retaliates in Paris sending message to all coalition forces.
I am concerned that this is a carefully planned scenario to turn the region into a real war zone between world powers with their actual participation, hoping to crush the Kurds in the midst of the chaos. This will not succeed but it will mean still more pain and suffering and destruction – as befits male dominant power structures.
Real solidarity between women (and of course) everyone struggling for freedom, equality and justice democracy is more needed and more precious than ever.
As we say: derbasî be… geçmiş olsun…
Take care… In solidarity
Ayse
